Two young girls, both aged seven, have tragically died after the car they were traveling in crashed into a tree halfway between Perth and Kalgoorlie.
The girls, believed to be twins, died at the scene of the accident in Carrabin, Western Australia, on Sunday morning.
The 31-year-old woman behind the wheel was rushed to Merredin Hospital by St John paramedics.
“Upon arrival at the scene, it was confirmed that the vehicle was a white Toyota Camry sedan, which had left the road and crashed into a tree,” the police statement said.
The accident closed the Great Eastern Highway for several hours, blocking a major road through the Wheatbelt region.
