Tragedy strikes NSW premier Chris Minns: Dad dies after ‘massive’ heart attack

The father of NSW Premier Chris Minns has died after suffering a heart attack.

John Minns was rushed to St George Hospital in Sydney’s south on Sunday after suffering a ‘major’ heart attack.

He died on Wednesday afternoon, Prime Minister Minns confirmed.

“This afternoon we lost our father, John Minns,” the prime minister said in a statement.

‘Until the end, he was surrounded by love and family, with his wife and children by his side.

“We would like to thank the NSW paramedics and all the nurses and doctors at St George Hospital who provided our father with wonderful care this week.

‘We are also very moved by all the expressions of support in recent days.’

Mr Minns’ brother Jim said his father was the “best dad” after re-sharing a message from the Prime Minister.

John is survived by his wife and three children.
