A six-week-old baby has died tragically in a house fire south west of Sydney, after suffering burns to 90 percent of his body.
Emergency services were called to Darwin Rd in Campbelltown around 2.15pm on Wednesday after the fire broke out in the kitchen of the house.
Paramedics treated the boy for severe burns — with a second specialist team being helicoptered to the site — before the boy was rushed to Campbelltown Hospital, where he later sadly died.

NSW Ambulance Superintendent Mark Gibbs praised first responders for their work in confrontational circumstances.
“The baby had burns between 80 and 90 percent of his body,” he said.
“Any incident involving a child, especially a very young baby, is heartbreaking, but I want to commend our crew for their exemplary work under very difficult circumstances.”
He added that support services were offered to those who arrived first.
Neighbors in the area told reporters that the baby’s mother heard screams.
Amber Knapp, who lives on the same street, told The Daily Telegraph that she was looking after her own child when she went outside and saw the smoke.
“The whole situation is devastating, my heart really goes out to the family,” she said.
Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
