Tragedy as Brazilian social media influencer and bodybuilder Alana Paiva dies at 21 after motorcycle accident in Rio de Janeiro

A Brazilian bodybuilder has died after a horrific accident while riding on the back of her boyfriend’s motorcycle.
Alana Paiva, 21, died from injuries sustained in the collision, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in hospital after a minibus driver allegedly rammed into the couple and failed to stop.
Local reports claim Ms Paiva was riding on the back of her friend’s bicycle at the time of the crash, which is said to have occurred on October 12.
She was taken to hospital and placed in an induced coma before reportedly dying ten days later.

Local reports claim Ms Paiva was riding on the back of her friend’s bicycle at the time of the crash, which is said to have occurred on October 12.
Ms Paiva’s friend Uilblim, 43, (pictured) is also said to have died in hospital just hours after the horror crash. He leaves behind an eight-year-old daughter.
The minibus is said to have made an illegal turn at an intersection, colliding head-on with the pair, causing the bike’s handlebars to come loose.
Ms Paiva’s friend Uilblim, 43, was apparently lucid and able to speak to emergency services after the bus driver reportedly fled the scene.
Tragically, he is also said to have died in hospital a few hours after the horror crash. He leaves behind an eight-year-old daughter.
Ms Paiva, who had more than 5,000 followers on Instagram and more than 2,500 followers on TikTok, used the platforms to post about her bodybuilding journey.
In one of her social media posts, she described bodybuilding as a “beautiful sport, which is not just about winning, but about maintaining discipline every day to surpass yourself every time you step on stage.”
She started bodybuilding when she was just 13 because she said she was unhappy with her “skinny body.”
Her achievements in the sport saw her achieve three podium finishes at the Muscle Contest in Rio de Janeiro in March 2023.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
