A ‘beautiful’ eight-year-old boy was killed in a car crash just four days after his mother died of cancer.
Harley Smith and his father were killed at the scene at 5.20pm on Sunday when the car they were traveling in collided with a truck on a rural road near Trafalgar in Victoria’s south-east.
The driver of the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
According to family friend April Damschke, the boy’s mother, Amy Galea, died four days earlier from stage four cancer.
Harley Smith (pictured) and his father died at the scene when the car they were riding in collided with a truck on a rural road near Trafalgar in Victoria’s south-east about 5.20pm on Sunday.
The boy’s mother, Amy Galea, died four days earlier from stage four cancer, according to family friend April Damschke (Harley and his mother Amy are pictured together)
Ms. Damschke launched one GoFundMe to raise money for their funerals, with the double tragedy leaving their family ‘helpless’.
“Amy Galea was diagnosed with stage four cancer at the age of 39 and died just four weeks later,” Ms Damschke said.
‘Amy lost her battle and gained wings, but just four days after Amy’s death, her seven-year-old son, Harley, was tragically killed in a track-on-car crash in Trafalgar.’
Daily Mail Australia approached Ms Damschke for comment.
Victoria Police said the two victims had yet to be formally identified and they were still investigating the circumstances of the crash.
