Tradie’s heroic act stuns after car barrels through an intersection and crashes into another vehicle

A professional has been captured chasing a driver after he crashes into another car and then tries to flee.

The incident happened on Monday morning at the intersection of Hellawell and Beaudesert Road between Acacia Ridge and Sunnybank Hills in Brisbane’s south.

The footage, shared by Dashcam Owners Australia, showed a blue Mazda hatchback driving through the intersection.

The traffic lights were red for a full 17 seconds before the blue Mazda veered into traffic and collided with a white Toyota hatchback.

The Toyota hatchback spun 360 degrees before crashing into a red Mazda SUV in the adjacent lane.

All three cars came to a stop in the middle of the intersection as emergency workers rushed to help the driver of the Toyota.

The driver of the blue Mazda was seen getting out of his car and walking to the side of the road.

A tradesman wearing a fluorescent vest saw the driver walking away from the scene of the accident and started the chase.

Social media users praised the professional for acting quickly and arresting the driver of the blue Mazda.

“It’s amazing how that man runs from the other side of the road and confronts the man who caused the accident,” said one person.

“An old buddy in a yellow shirt appears from the bottom right and makes a ‘b’ line in front of the driver of the Mazda, then pushes him to the ground,” a second person wrote.

“God bless the craftsman who saw his old buddy casually walking away… and tackled him hard,” said a third.

A fourth added: ‘That tradie pinning him down. That’s the type of people who deserve Australian of the Year. What a bloody legend.’

‘This is cooked, it’s a crossroads I frequent. It’s always busy and that could easily have been fatal,’ someone else added.
