Tradie slammed over three ‘disrespectful’ acts while on Sydney train headed to Central Station

Tradie faces criticism for three ‘disrespectful’ acts on train ride home – but not everyone agrees he’s a pig

A tradie has been criticized online for committing three ‘disrespectful’ acts while riding the train home from work.

The construction worker was spotted on a train bound for Central Station in Sydney’s CBD.

An outraged passenger took a photo of the man and shared it with Reddit on Tuesday showing the worker with his “dirty” boots on the seat in front of him.

The man was seen putting his dirty bags and boots on the chair and leaving a gritty footprint on the fabric of the chair.

The Reddit poster claimed the man broke two more rules of train etiquette on his journey home: “popping Netflix at full volume” and “vaping.”

The post has received more than 400 comments, many criticizing the tradition for being inconsiderate while using public transport.

“When you’re in public, you have to pretend to be in public,” one wrote.

“This means headphones if you’re listening to something… keep your feet on the floor. Not on the walls, chairs or other furniture.

“If you can’t follow those rules, stay out of the audience.”

Another person commented, “My husband had a long day, but either way you have to have manners and respect.” That’s public transport, don’t ruin it all.’

“The biggest problem with public transport is the crowd,” a third person agrees.

Others, however, defended the employee, claiming judgment should be reserved because he looks like he’s had “a rough day at work.”

“Leave that guy alone. Probably his time to relax after a long day at work,” one person wrote.

“The real bullshit here is all the judgment…this human being is clearly struggling and all you guys can talk about is how dare they get the seat dirty,” another commented.

A third person added, “Maybe he’s going home after a hard day at work, doing a job that you would consider dirty or beneath you.”

“I agree he could keep his feet off the chairs, but you can control your judgment of others who get dirty with hard work.”

NSW Transport asks travelers to be ‘courteous’ when using public transport so that everyone can enjoy it.

Passengers standing with their feet on the seats can be fined $100 if caught or fined up to $1,100.

Smoking on public transportation is also an offense and carries a fine of $300 and a maximum fine of $550.

NSW Transport is asking those using trains, buses, subways, ferries and light rail services to be “considerate” of others on board, including using headsets with mobile devices.

NSW Transport Rules and Tips for Courteous Use of Public Transport

Drinking alcohol or possessing an open bottle of alcohol is not allowed on most public transport. It is an offense and carries fines.

Smoking and vaping are also not allowed on or around public transportation and carry a fine of up to $1,100.

Vandalism is not permitted in any way on subway, train, bus, ferry and light rail services or stations, stops and wharves. Fines apply.

Being courteous makes using public transport more pleasant for everyone.

Follow these etiquette tips when traveling by subway, train, bus, coach, ferry and light rail in NSW:

– On public transport, offer your seat to someone who needs it more than you, including people who are older, disabled, pregnant or traveling with children.

– Make room for people getting in or out.

– Do not block the doors or aisles with strollers, bags or bicycles and boards.

– Carry your backpack by the handle and place your backpack on the floor between your legs when standing to avoid inconvenience to other passengers.

– Do not occupy more than one seat when others are standing.

– Do not put your feet on the seats.

– Use headphones with mobile devices and keep the volume low.

– Speak softly when you are on the phone.

– Throw your rubbish in the trash can.

– Cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze.
