Aussie bloke reveals insane $178,000 job that is desperate for more workers: ‘There’s money to be made’

A skilled tradesman earning nearly $200,000 a year is encouraging young people to “give it a try,” proving with his salary that you don’t have to go to college to have a “good career.”

The artist was stopped on the Gold Coast by TikTok producer GetAhead, who asked him what he did and how much he earned.

The man said he was an electrician who worked in the oil and gas industry and earned about $178,000 a year.

“I just started out as a regular mechanic and then got my instrumentation ticket, which is kind of a ticket on top of certificate four and certificate three,” he said.

The professional said there were plenty of jobs in his field and that companies were always looking for instrumentation electricians.

“There is definitely money to be made in trading,” he said.

“You don’t necessarily have to go to college or anything to have a good career.”

The professional told GetAhead that if he weren’t working as an instrumentation electrician, he would likely pursue a different profession.

According to talent.com, the average salary for instrumentation in Australia is $109,733 per year.

Starting salaries for entry-level positions start at around $93,500 per year, while more experienced workers earn around $158,870 per year.

The position is responsible for the operation of measurement and control systems in industries such as oil and gas, manufacturing, chemical plants, pharmaceuticals and energy.

A nurse who watched the video on TikTok said she had been a nurse for 20 years and didn’t make nearly as much money.

Another person said he had clients with adult learners who were making about $120,000 working 40 hours a week.

“There are always plenty of jobs in the construction industry and it is much easier to (renovate and) sell,” the person said.
