Toyota LandCruiser from Logan, Brisbane, Anzac Day crash rams into another family car

A second family is targeted by an irate Toyota LandCruiser driver in what they believe could be a case of mistaken identity.

Distressed father Teina Cameron said his partner and seven-month-old daughter were rammed by the SUV in Browns Plains, north of Logan – south of Brisbane.

It comes after another family said they were rammed and shot at by a driver in a LandCruiser just a suburb away on Anzac Day last Tuesday.

Both families were driving an ST Ford Focus and were concerned that the driver of the LandCruiser might have mistaken them for someone else who owned a similar vehicle.

Mr Cameron said his partner, Ava Skaines, was driving her orange ST Ford Focus over a roundabout when the Toyota hit her behind, shattering the rear window glass across their daughter’s face.

“(After Ms Skaines was rammed) trying to make sure our daughter was okay, she screamed,” he shared Courier Mail.

“He pulled over and scolded Ava… He realized it was the wrong car when he saw the baby in the back. Then he just floored it and drove off.”

Ms Skaines was on her way to Browns Plains, south of Brisbane, to buy bottles for their baby from Baby Bunting when the incident unfolded.

The terrified mother suffered whiplash and was so traumatized that she could no longer work as a nurse.

He said he was posting a photo of the LandCruiser on Facebook when he came across another post from another driver saying they were targeted by the same vehicle.

Todd Power said the LandCruiser attacked his family’s car several days earlier on Anzac Day.

He and his family were driving down the Logan Motorway at about 6:30 p.m. when the LandCruiser approached and swerved to avoid them.

Chilling dash cam footage captured from another car shows the Toyota repeatedly attempting to ram into the side of the Focus before flipping it backwards.

Power said the driver fired at the family with a bullet, believed to have been fired from an air rifle, that hit his 14-year-old daughter in the leg.

“He actually shot from the driver’s seat through the passenger seat in his car,” he said.

‘I was standing next to him. He got as close as he could. I heard the shot.’

The Brisbane father said the bullet had slipped over his thumb, between the seats and on to his daughter who was in the backseat.

The family eventually called triple-0 for help and met police and paramedics in a mall parking lot.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the incident is under investigation.

“At around 6:35pm (on Anzac Day) a yellow Ford Focus and a white Toyota Landcruiser were traveling on the Logan Motorway when the driver of the Landcruiser rammed the other vehicle from behind,” he said.

The Ford Focus sustained damage to the rear.

The driver of the Landcruiser then fired an unknown weapon, believed to be an air rifle, at the occupants of the Ford Focus.

“A female passenger suffered a minor injury to her leg from a projectile and was taken to hospital. The Landcruiser continued to head west on Logan Motorway.”

Cameron said his family has met with police about the second incident but has yet to make a formal statement.

He said Ms. Skaines suffered severe whiplash, lower back and neck pain from the crash and claims their $55,000 car was “written off.”

Both families compared their own photos of the LandCruiser and confirmed that the car from both incidents had the same license plate.

Police have issued a call for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

“Anyone who has dash cam visibility is asked to contact the police,” said the spokesperson.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
