Toyah Cordingley’s family is dealt another devastating blow the same week their suspected killer was flown back to Australia on charges of her murder on a remote beach.
- Indie, Toyah Cordingley’s beloved dog, dies of cancer
- It comes as the accused murderer returns to Aus to face court
The dog that was with a young woman when she was allegedly murdered more than four years ago died in the same week the woman’s alleged killer returned to Australia.
The life of Toyah Cordingley’s beloved dog, Indie, ended after he suffered from cancer.
“Her dog Indie had to be put down,” said Cordingley, Toyah’s father.
The cub had been found tied to a tree on Wangetti Beach, close to where the body of his 24-year-old daughter was found, he told the Cairns Post.

In October 2018, Cordingley found her daughter’s body half buried in sand in upstate a day after police alleged she was murdered.
He says he hoped he would find the strength to attend his court case, and all he could do now is hope.
“I feel like I owe this to Toyah,” he said.
But this will not bring her back.
He hoped no one would have to go through the pain his family suffered, the father said.
Rajwinder Singh (centre in photo, wearing a long-sleeved black shirt and gray track pants) was extradited to Cairns on Thursday before being charged with the murder of Ms Cordingley on Friday morning.
News of his dog’s death came as Cordingley’s accused murderer, Rajwinder Singh, 38, was extradited to Cairns on Thursday.
The 38-year-old man was arrested in India in November 2022 on suspicion of the young woman’s murder.
Mr. Cordingley expressed his wishes that the community allow the case to run smoothly.
“I ask the Cairns community to respect the judicial process and not speculate or do anything that could affect the judicial case.”
Singh will face court again in April.
