Husband labelled ‘toxic’ for bombarding wife with their children moments BEFORE she crosses half-marathon finish line

A ‘toxic’ man has been criticized online after he appeared to bombard his wife and their children just before she crossed the half marathon finish line.

Footage captured by a Brazilian journalist shows a man encouraging two young girls to greet a racer during the race in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo.

The TikTOKwhich has provided more than 25 feet of views, begins with the woman approaching the finish line within 100 minutes of starting the 8-mile race.

The man – believed to be the woman’s husband – then leads the girls onto the track, thinking she will happily finish the race with them by her side.

However, the mother decides to run around the children to reach the finish line as quickly as possible.

After crossing the line, the mother – who was dressed in all black and wearing sunglasses – screams in excitement at her achievement.

In the background, the man seems confused by the way the race has rejected their children, and he shrugs at someone off camera.

The viral clip ends with the mother hugging a male racer who completed the half marathon moments after her.

The video was then shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by an unimpressed viewer who took issue with the husband’s behavior.

She angrily said, “I have no words to describe how much I hate this man. Give her one thing without making her mother feel guilty.’

One critic replied: ‘Look at him signaling to the other audience members – “that was weird wasn’t it?” No, YOU are weird if you take the kids way before the finish line and not after it.’

The X user then replied, “Exactly. “It was completely deliberate that he did it there and not after the finish so she had to run past her children who were encouraged to go up and hug her.”

One replied: ‘I’ve run seven marathons. The best thing my family gets from me is a wave. I don’t stop just before the finish.’

Another joked: ‘Ready kids? Let’s ruin Mom’s time on this race she’s been training for MONTHS!’

While a third called him ‘toxic’, a fourth argued: ‘He tried to sabotage her performance. Has he never been to a competition?’

Meanwhile, others couldn’t understand why the racer’s family didn’t meet her when she was ready.

Another added: ‘Why would he wait there with the kids? Literally wait until past the finish line.”

“Finishing lines can be dangerous, especially when multiple people are competing for a personal best,” said a third. ‘Absolutely NOT a safe place to put small children as other runners can run over them.

‘We can’t just stop. He should know how much training she has done and how important it is to her.”

A fourth said: ‘Why wouldn’t he put the kids AFTER the finish? They should be there to congratulate her on her moment. The moment shouldn’t be about them.”

However, others jumped to the man’s defense, saying he was not trying to distract from the racer.

One supporter said: ‘On the fence about this. It may be that Dad has no idea, but to say he doesn’t support his wife (if that’s his wife, they could be siblings) is a stretch.

“This kind of training takes a lot of time and sacrifice, which he would have had to bear.”

“She looks great now that her kids are around,” another added. ‘STOP judging based on your own paradigm.’
