A mansion overlooking a royal park and designed by the architect behind Buckingham Palace is on the market for £11.25 million.
The Grade II listed mansion is part of a cluster of houses that make up one of London’s most exclusive streets, Cumberland Terrace, which overlooks Regent’s Park.
Buckingham Palace architect John Nash designed the building in 1826. The famed architect is responsible for designing many iconic London buildings, including Marble Arch and Clarence House.
He built Cumberland Terrace for family and friends of the royal family, but over the years it has hosted a number of other A-list guests, including Barack Obama, Stefano Gabbana, Damien Hirst, Tom Ford, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
The house covers 4,600 square meters and is spread over five floors. There are five bedrooms, five bathrooms and not one but two reception rooms. One is mainly used for casual evenings while the other is set up for formal entertainment.

The current owner has ensured that Victorian features remain at the heart of the property.
The house also has ornate crown moldings with ceiling roses, chandeliers and panel doors typical of the Victorian era.
Rachael Scarr-Hall, the home’s owner, said: ‘Our property in Regent’s Park is a prominent John Nash-designed home.
‘It is of large size and therefore has a Grade I rating. That’s why it was important to protect this listing and make the property fit for family needs in the 21st century.”
She said she could achieve this by ‘creating large living spaces with large openings while preserving the original style covings and architraves’.

Among the many luxurious amenities there is a vaulted wine cellar, an integrated sound system, an elevator and a terrace that overlooks the royal park.
Outside there is a communal garden, tennis courts, garage, off street parking and a children’s play area.
The basement of the property could be a house in itself. There is one bedroom, a private bathroom, an open kitchen and two patios.
Charlie Gibson, of estate agents Oliver Bernard Private, said: ‘This is a truly exceptional property providing an ideal home for a family, with flexible accommodation.
“The basement can be occupied by a nanny, caregiver or a teenager who needs their own space as it has an en-suite bedroom, a cozy outdoor space, or residents can enjoy it as a more casual space.”
While the house itself is a temptation, Mr Gibson says it’s the location that makes it such a gem, just a stone’s throw from Marylebone High Street, Regent Street and Bond Street.

Mr Gibson added: ‘The owner has beautifully renovated the house in an elegant classical style, which is a triumph of great difficulty considering the historical monument listing, and with the views on offer this house is truly the stuff of dreams.
“Since launch, we have attracted interest from buyers around the world for its rarity, passenger lift, location and architectural splendor.”
Ms Scarr-Hall added: ‘The site on the east side of Regent’s Park in an architecturally protected environment with John Nash’s signature design demonstrates the grandeur of his London urban plan.
‘Because of the scale of the building, albeit linked, a family can live there comfortably, together with the necessary staff.
‘The entertaining space and living space with the double floor to ceiling height is quite unique with a view of Regent’s Park, and an elevator giving access to the main floors makes traffic easy and simple.’
