Towering ‘smokenado’ rips through Alabama cornfield
Video shows a “smokenado” racing through a cornfield as firefighters tackle a raging fire in Alabama.
According to Assistant Chief Jordan Davis of the Fire Department, multiple fire units responded to a one-acre fire in Leighton shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday. Nitrate City Volunteer Fire Department.
The department called for more reinforcements to fight the fire, which had a charred path and was producing a huge column of smoke.

“We couldn’t have put this fire out without all the help from the emergency services,” said Davis, who also thanked ‘the man above for listening to “Our prayer to bring a rain shower upon us.”
According to Fox Weather, smokenadoes typically only last a few minutes as warm air rises.
They are often harmless, but can cause unpredictable fires.
