Tourist slammed over idiotic stunt at the Apurva Kempinski hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali
A man has become the latest tourist to visit Bali to face online backlash for an ‘inappropriate’ and disrespectful act at a five-star hotel.
The shocking stunt is said to have been filmed from the Apurva Kempinski in Nusa Dua, on the southern coast of the Indonesian island.
The viral video showed the well-dressed man approaching a large metal bowl filled with water and flower petals before being urged by a woman to “stick your face in it.”
He leaned over to submerge his head, but accidentally tipped the decorative bowl over as water and petals flowed through the lobby.
The video has since been viewed nearly 30,000 times on TikTok.
Many furious viewers claimed that the man’s “stupid” actions confirmed the negative opinions of tourists on the island.

“Well, that’s just beautiful, isn’t it, so careful, respectful and civilized,” says one viewer.
Another added: ‘(Your) holiday is over, pack your bags.’
A third reminded the man that “this is why we don’t touch things we shouldn’t touch.”
The local population quickly joined the wave of resistance.
“You come to Bali without bringing your brains…why would you destroy everything in someone else’s country (sic),” they wrote.
Some wondered whether the tourist helped clean up or pay for the damage afterwards.
Other viewers defended the tourist, arguing that the act was not as bad as some claimed.
“I mean it’s just a bowl of water and flowers… Just say you’re sorry,” one user wrote.
Another added: ‘Honestly it’s not your fault. There should be something to lock the plate in place.”

Many other viewers admitted they would be ‘mortified’ if it had happened to them.
“I just lay on the floor like I was going to pass out,” one person commented.
Another added: “I would leave the country.”
Others were eager to know what happened next.
The stunt is the latest in a long line of incidents involving tourists on the island since it reopened to international travel in 2022 after the pandemic.
Incidents include naked tourists in front of sacred monuments and urinating in public places.
Since February, international tourists have had to pay 150,000 Indonesian rupiah (about A$15) to travel through Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai airport or one of the island’s seaports.
Tourists will have to pay the tax every time they enter the island, in addition to an existing $50 e-visa that has been in effect since May 2022.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the tax will help fund efforts to preserve Bali’s rich “culture and environment” and make the destination less attractive to “cheap” tourists.
“Now they are trying to ensure that the tourists who come behave in the most appropriate manner and are culturally sensitive to Indonesian and Balinese cultural customs and more,” Australian travel expert Quentin Long previously told Yahoo News.
