Touching moment Joe Biden breaks down in tears as Jill hails her ‘husband and hero’ during President’s final farewell dinner at the White house… but there’s no sign of Kamala
Joe Biden broke down in tears as Jill greeted her “husband and hero” at the president’s final farewell dinner at the White House, but there were no signs of Kamala Harris.
The outgoing US president was overcome with emotion as the First Lady paid tribute to his decades of service during a celebration on the South Lawn, thanking Democrats’ supporters and donors.
On Friday evening, Jill praised her husband’s four decades of service, including his last four years as president of the United States.
“What I’ve seen you do over 40 years is extraordinary…Joe, what you’ve done over the last four years is breathtaking,” the First Lady said as Biden wiped a tear from his cheek.
After Biden grabbed a tissue from his pocket, his wife raised a glass and toasted, “My husband and hero, Joe Biden,” before the pair shared a kiss on stage.
Before the president took the stage for his speech, Jill made one final joke, urging guests and supporters, “If you have a seat, please take it. Don’t jump in the pool!’
“Joe and I are hosting this dinner tonight for a very simple reason to say thank you. Thank you to so many dear friends,” she continued.
“We started this journey to redeem the soul of the nation and define the light in the darkness. And without you I could never have gotten to where the White House has become, and without you we could never have gotten as much done as we did without you. And that’s not an exaggeration. I mean it from the bottom of my heart.’

Biden will hand over his presidency to Donald Trump on January 20 next year
The president staged the farewell in an effort to show gratitude to Democratic insiders before leaving office on January 20, 2025, where he will hand the presidency to newly elected Republican President Donald Trump.
Biden then took the stage after his wife’s heartwarming introduction, where he highlighted his administration’s achievements in his speech and called his time in office “the honor of my lifetime.”
“One thing I’ve always believed about public service and especially the presidency is the importance of asking ourselves: Have we left the country in a better state than we found it? “I can say with all my heart that the answer to that question is a resounding yes, thanks to you,” he said, pointing to the cheering crowd.
“I believe we can be proud that we are leaving America in a better place today than when we came to power four years ago,” he continued.
He then emphasized overcoming the “worst pandemic we have seen in more than 100 years,” while the country’s economy was in a tailspin and a “violent uprising on January 6” took place.
The emotional leader said firmly: “We’ve come a long way since then… But I am confident that America is better positioned to lead the world today than at any point in my fifty years of public service.
“I followed that standard because I had no choice. I am Jill Biden’s husband. That is the title I am most proud of.’
Gushing over his wife’s support, Biden went on to say, “Jill is the rock of our family,” before calling her “one of the greatest first ladies in history.”
“William Butler Yeats wrote, ‘Consider where man’s glory most begins and ends, and say that my glory was that I had such friends.’ Thank you. Thank you. Thank you,” he said.

“Looking out over such friends, serving as President of the United States has been the honor of my life,” Biden concluded, as his supporters cheered and clapped around him.
But among the crowd, there were no signs of Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost to Donald Trump in the landslide 2024 presidential election.
Instead, Harris has hidden herself away from the spotlight as she vacations in Hawaii with her husband Doug Emhoff following her defeat.
Keeping a low profile, Harris arrived in Kalaoa on Tuesday for what will reportedly be a week-long trip as she recovers from the rigorous campaign schedule she has been on in recent months.
The couple usually spends the Thanksgiving holiday in Hawaii, but it remains unclear at this time whether Emhoff’s children or any of Harris’ family members will join them.
However, Harris is willing to fly back from Hawaii to break the tie in the Senate if necessary.
She postponed her trip in case she was needed for Senate votes to confirm judges, one of her aides told NBC News. It is not expected to be needed as no major battle over judicial nominees is expected until December.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended Harris’ vacation during a briefing on Thursday, arguing there was nothing “wrong” with the vice president taking the short break.
“The vice president has taken time off to spend time with her family. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” she said.
“I think she deserves to spend some time with her family and have some time off.
“She has worked very hard over the past four years, and being able to spend a few days with her family is good for her. Good for her,” Jean-Pierre added.
