Tottenham’s £39m move for Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro appears to be out of whack after the Portuguese club breached previously agreed terms, according to reports.
The 23-year-old right-back looked set to make the move to the Premier League this month after a lengthy chase from Spurs, but the athletic have reported that the deal is now off.
After being told by president Frederico Varandas that he could leave the club after Saturday’s Portuguese League Cup final, Porro is now distraught at not being able to follow his ideal move.

Sporting lost the Taca da Liga final to Porto on Saturday night.
Talks between the 23-year-old and the north London outfit had reached an advanced stage, with the club looking set to force a deal for the highly-rated defender.
Sporting had already signed former Arsenal star Héctor Bellerín as a replacement for his Barcelona compatriot.
Spanish defender Bellerin has struggled with both form and playing time issues with Xavi at the top of the Blaugrana table after a summer switch from the Gunners, and is behind Jules Kounde in the pecking order at right-back and the left back Alejandro Balde. it has often been played before him.
Tottenham’s interest in the Spaniard was piqued after a recent run of fine form from the former Manchester City defender, including good performances in their Champions League group stage matches.
Club president Frederico Varandas reportedly told Porro that he could leave this month.
So far in 2022-23, the 23-year-old has three goals and 11 assists in all competitions under Rubén Amorim, quickly cementing his position as one of the club’s most important players.
After Saturday’s League Cup final, which Sporting lost 2-0 to Porto, the defender appeared to say an emotional farewell to the fans, perhaps under the impression that he was leaving the club.
Porro finally arrived in the Portuguese capital only last summer, after two years on loan from Manchester City.
Tottenham currently have numerous options at right-back, including Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence, who all arrived in the summer of 2022.
Tottenham currently have three options at right-back in their current first-team squad.
