Tottenham have suffered an injury, meaning Richarlison will miss Sunday’s match at home to Nottingham Forest.

Richarlison has featured as a substitute in Tottenham’s last three league games as part of the club’s efforts to get him back to full fitness.

However, the striker will now be given time off in a bid to aid his recovery from a knee problem.

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League and two points behind fourth-place Aston Villa with a game in hand.

Richarlison has made a significant contribution this season as he has scored ten goals in 25 Premier League appearances.

While Richarlison will be unavailable against Forest, Tottenham can call on Brennan Johnson.

Johnson went off in the closing stages of Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against West Ham and was subsequently seen with a bandage on his knee.

However, Postecoglou stressed that Johnson, who found the net against the Hammers, will be fit for his former club Forest.

Postecoglou said, “Brennan is doing well. There is no problem.

“The only one is Richy. He has been having some trouble with his knee in recent weeks. We thought it was best for him to take this weekend off and get ready for Newcastle.”

Having won one of their last three Premier League games, drawn one and lost one, Tottenham will be looking for more consistency in the closing stages of the season.
