Yves Bissouma was reportedly robbed outside a five-star hotel in Cannes this weekend, with two robbers ‘spraying him in the face with tear gas’ before making off with his ‘£260,000 watch’.
The Tottenham defender, who joined the club in 2022 in a £25million transfer from Brighton, was reported The sunwhen the incident took place at the five-star Majestic Barriere Hotel on the French Riviera.
Bissouma, 27, was “attacked by two hooded men as he got out of his car” on the Promenade de la Croisette, a road parallel to the hotel and the seafront.
The newspaper also claims the incident happened around 4am on Sunday morning, with the midfielder reportedly trying to seek safety from the robbers at the French hotel, but the doors were locked.
The thieves had ripped his luxury watch off his wrist before leaving the scene in a car. The Sun also adds that Bissouma and his wife were ‘shocked and dismayed’ and ‘returned to England later on Sunday, despite being due to spend several days on holiday in Cannes.’

Police in France subsequently opened an investigation into the incident. Mail Sport has contacted Bissouma’s representatives for comment.
It appears Bissouma had also returned to Tottenham’s training ground in Enfield today to undergo some treatment after posting a photo of himself on his Instagram story in the medical rooms at the club’s training base.
It came after the midfielder suffered a knee injury during their 2-1 win against Burnley on May 11, with the Spurs star set to miss their last two league matches against Man City and Sheffield United.
Due to the problem, he did not feature in Tottenham’s friendly against Newcastle in Australia.
Bissouma has played in 28 Premier League matches for Tottenham this season and got off to a flying start at the start of the season, helping Ange Postecoglou’s side remain unbeaten in their first eight league matches.
The defensive midfielder seemed to quickly come to life under the Australian coach, with Postecoglou placing his trust in him to play in a free role, allowing him to collect the ball in midfield, turn and drive at teams.
His good form at the start of the season may have been influenced by a difficult few months during his international spell with Mali during the Africa Cup of Nations.
While Mali would reach the quarter-finals of the competition before suffering defeat to eventual champions Ivory Coast, it was revealed by his head coach that Bissouma had played with Malaria.

The 27-year-old had contracted the disease during the tournament that was also organized in Ivory Coast. Despite this, he appeared in all but one match of the tournament.
“You know that Yves and Moussa were suffering from malaria, as far as the blood tests are concerned,” Mali head coach Eric Chelle revealed. ‘It’s not that bad, because someone born in West Africa and used to malaria could play, but for Moussa it was different.
‘It was the first time he had contracted malaria, so he started with light training. We will handle everything carefully, but there is no outbreak or anything like that.’
