Tottenham are reportedly on the verge of releasing club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele after a disappointing spell at the north London club.

Ndombele joined Spurs in the summer of 2019 as one of then manager Mauricio Pochettino’s top targets for a record fee of £65 million, but the midfielder has failed to live up to expectations.

The midfielder has not played for the club since January 2022 and has spent the past two seasons on loan at first Napoli and then Galatasaray.

Since moving to the club he has made just 91 appearances and scored 10 goals, but has fallen out of favor with several managers.

According to the Evening standardhe leaves with one year left on his contract, but leaves on a free transfer, ending his disappointing spell at the club.

Tottenham club record signing Tanguy Ndombele will be released by the club

Ndombele spent last season on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray, where he won a title medal

The midfielder was the club’s record signing when he signed from Lyon for £65m in 2019

He was last seen in a Spurs shirt during a brief reprieve during Antonio Conte’s reign. However, things ended on a sour note as the Frenchman stormed through the tunnel after being substituted during an FA Cup win over Morecambe.

Ironically, the 27-year-old has had back-to-back title successes during his two loan spells away from the club.

He made 30 appearances for Napoli in 2022/23, when the country won Serie A for the first time in more than three decades, and was part of the Galatasaray squad that just claimed the Turkish championship.

However, he failed to impress during his time at Tottenham, despite the high fee the club paid to land the midfielder.

Since signing Ndombele, Spurs have almost managed to match the fee with the £60m they paid for Richarlison in 2022.

The last sight of Ndombele came after he stormed off after coming on as a substitute in an FA Cup win over Morecambe in January 2022

Ryan Sessegnon will leave the club this summer, along with Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic

Ndombele will join a host of Tottenham stars who the club announced they would be leaving earlier this week.

Ryan Sessegnon will leave the club once his contract expires, along with Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic and Japhet Tanganga.

Perisic and Dier are likely to move permanently to Hadjuk Split and Bayern Munich respectively, while Millwall look to recruit Tangagna following a loan spell at The Den last season.
