Several Tottenham mascots lined up in the tunnel ahead of the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
When Van Dijk returned to the Liverpool dressing room after his warm-up, the Dutchman received a surprising request from someone.
“Van Dijk come to Tottenham, we don’t have any good defenders at the moment,” you heard the mascot shout.
Van Dijk was seen smiling in response to the comment, which was picked up by Sky Sports cameras.
Sky Sports presenter Mark Chapman was hysterical about the mascot’s bold appeal.

“The mascots are very honest with the Liverpool players,” Chapman said.
“They are the cheapest mascots in the league at Tottenham, they always enjoy themselves every week when they are at home.”
The mascot’s comment comes amid a defensive injury crisis at Tottenham, with first-choice centre-back Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero still on the sidelines.
Spurs are also without the backup option of Ben Davies, while first-choice left-back Destiny Udogie is also sidelined.
In recent matches, Tottenham have been forced into a makeshift partnership at centre-back, with midfielder Archie Gray teaming up with Radu Dragusin.
Fullback Djed Spence also came out of the cold in recent weeks and started as left back in the first leg of the semi-finals.
Tottenham mascots had previously attracted attention in 2023 after several were spotted warming up in the tunnel ahead of the match against Newcastle amid a new injury crisis at the club.
