Tottenham are in talks to bring Timo Werner back to the Premier League.

The former Chelsea striker is of great interest from Spurs, who are in talks with Red Bull Leipzig about a loan deal until the end of the season.

Tottenham lost captain Heung-min Son for a while, because the striker played with Korea in the Asia Cup.

And Werner can move the entire left wing of Tottenham's star forward in the short term and add depth to Ange Postecoglou's attacking options.

Werner has also attracted interest from Manchester United, who remain in the market for a striker in January.

In his 14 appearances in all competitions this season, the Germany international has scored just twice and registered an assist.

But Ange Postecoglou's side could be the team to deliver him a return to the Premier League, beating rivals to the striker's signature Manchester United side.

The Red Devils started circling Werner in late 2023 and were widely expected to be the frontrunners for his signature if he was willing to move on in the January window.

Aston Villa are also said to be interested in signing the former Blues striker.

But Mail Sport understands Leipzig and Tottenham are clarifying terms, including the fee, and whether the deal should include a purchase option, but talks remain positive.

It is believed Werner will leave Marco Rose's camp this weekend to fly to North London.

The potential signing will be a blow to Erik ten Hag, who is keen to strengthen his attacking ranks during the January window.

Manchester United have gone way off the mark this season as Rasmus Hojlund made his £72million Premier League debut on Boxing Day after months of toiling in front of goal.
