Tottenham pulled off another coup last night by convincing 17-year-old Swedish international midfielder Lucas Bergvall to join ahead of Barcelona.

Mail Sport announced Spurs’ interest earlier this week, but an £8million deal had already been agreed with Barcelona before the summer.

However, after spending time at Tottenham on Wednesday, the Djurgardens IF teenager has agreed to a move to London for the summer.

He will undergo a medical tomorrow before signing a five-year contract.

Bergvall attracted the interest of several clubs across Europe, including Man United, with whom he was on trial when he was 14.

After rising through the ranks at Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna, he joined Djurgardens in December 2022.

He would make his debut in the Swedish first division not long after his arrival, coming off the bench during a 3–1 win against his former side, Brommapojkarna.

The box-to-box midfielder has excellent technical ability and can put his teammates into dangerous positions using his excellent passing skills. He also has a good understanding of the game and is known in defense for intervening at the right time to intercept opponent attacks.

Bergvall made his first start for the club later in May during a 1–0 win against Hacken, before scoring three goals in 28 games from midfield, with Barcelona confirming last month that they were interested in signing him.

The 17-year-old is so highly rated that he has already made his senior international debut for Sweden, playing 31 minutes in their 2-1 win against Estonia earlier this January.
