Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky shares emotional embrace with his sister in the crowd after keeping clean sheet against Liverpool on debut – just days after joining the club
Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky shared an emotional hug with his sister in the crowd after putting in an impressive performance on his debut against Liverpool.
Kinsky joined the club from Slavia Prague three days ago in a deal worth £12.5million as they continue to struggle with injuries in defensive areas, and he made his debut on Wednesday evening.
First-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is out injured after ankle surgery, back-up Fraser Forster has struggled and been ill and Brandon Austin made his debut in the defeat to Newcastle.
Kinsky’s arrival was Spurs’ first piece of business of the transfer window, and he was thrown straight in by Ange Postecoglou and did not disappoint.
He made six saves in total, with Darwin Nunez likely to make the choice. He made himself proud with the attacker’s snapshot from the penalty area and helped his team to a 1-0 victory.
And full-time, the 21-year-old went up to some of the home fans and hugged his sister Andrea, while his father was also present.

The player himself told Sky Sports after the match: ‘I would say I’m a big dreamer. But I never dreamed this one, I am very happy for the whole club, I came three days ago, everything is so good, the people are so nice.
‘It was my sister. Yesterday I was told that there was a possibility that I would be in goal today, I called them immediately. My sister came, her boyfriend, my parents, I was so happy they were here on such a special night.’
Postecoglou, meanwhile, said after the match: “We felt that [he is confident] when I had my first conversation with him before we signed him. That’s a big event for a young man, he handled himself very well.
Jamie Redknapp said in Sky Sports reporting: ‘Really good, it was a big decision to throw him in. He looked calm and confident with his feet and made some good saves.
‘It looks like he will be a good goalkeeper for the future. That is the emotion of football.’
Michael Dawson added: “A very proud moment, having only been in the building for three days and to go on the big stage at the age of 21 and get the opportunity. Spurs needed a goalkeeper in Fraser Forster as the number two came in and missed the weekend due to illness. It was a big night for him and he excelled.
“He went in with confidence in his own abilities and he didn’t disappoint. In everything he did, closing the corner, he used class and confidence. He did everything in his own time.
Kinsky’s father, Antonin Snr, played almost 400 games as a professional in the Czech and Russian leagues, while his grandfather also played.

The goalkeeper was hugged on the pitch by his teammates and manager before heading to his family as everyone watched with big smiles.
“As a kid growing up with their dad and a grandpa as a babysitter, they probably didn’t do much else,” Redknapp said. “By catching oranges in the house, he was born into the game.
“I also liked how he was when he walked out, he was giving everyone a high five, he’s obviously got a good manner about him, he’s obviously an incredible talent at 21 years old. All in all: what a debut for him.
Izzy Christiansen added: “I think it’s common knowledge that they have to play now. He was clearly recruited for a reason and has huge potential, but is confident in his abilities at this point.
“He had probably one of the best front threes in Europe under pressure and he just looked confident.”
