Tottenham fans are raving about Son Heung-Min’s performance against Preston in the FA Cup.

The striker scored twice as Spurs easily overcame their fourth round tie at Deepdale, having struggled for form all season with just six goals going into Saturday’s game.

Followers on social media reveled in Son’s brace, with some suggesting that he is “back” after his disappointing performances this year.

Tottenham fans have praised Son Hueng-min’s impressive performance against Preston

He scored twice, opening the scoring with a fine shot from distance in the second half

‘If you’re one of the people who doubted Son this season, talk to yourself! The form is temporary! The class is permanent! He’s mustard,’ one excited follower said on Twitter ahead of full time.

‘Let apologies match smears,’ said another. ‘The son is BACK.’

Alan Shearer sang the South Korean’s praises in BBC commentary, repeatedly saying “what a blow” as Preston goalkeeper Freddie Woodman struggled to come within a bending effort from distance.

The striker then beat Freddie Woodman from inside the box with another fine strike.

‘Wow! What a blow with the left foot! Shearer said.

He tried one with his right foot and then there is the one with his left foot in the first half, the goalkeeper reached them. On this occasion no occasion – what a goal, what a strike!

‘Again, it actually comes off the defender. You can see him asking for it there and the gap opens up and you think it’s too far. No possibility! He bends it towards that corner keeper he can see it from afar but he doesn’t stand a chance, what a goal!

Son was left smiling as his performance led Spurs to a comfortable 3-0 win at Deepdale

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas, acting as an expert on the game, added: “He’s a complete professional, once you acknowledge that (lack of confidence) and are honest with yourself then you can work on that.” That’s what he’s doing on the field day after day trying to get back to that place and today was a big step.

Other followers praised Son for showing signs of his former self.

One Twitter user said: ‘That’s the Son I remember. World class goal with his ‘weak foot’, very few players in the world can achieve it.’

Another added: “Sonny has looked great and deserves his 2 goals, I hope this is his return to the player we all love COYS.”

Tottenham will now await their fifth round opponents as they prepare for a game against Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend.
