Tottenham fans lash out at the board, manager and players following their Champions League exit
‘Down your heads in shame!’: Tottenham fans lash out at board, manager and players after their Champions League round of 16 exit after their ‘SIN ESPINAL’ performance against AC Milan
Tottenham fans reacted angrily to their team’s Champions League elimination after Antonio Conte’s men held to a goalless draw against AC Milan on Wednesday night.
Needing to come back from a 1-0 deficit in the first leg, Spurs failed to create many clear chances, their task made even more difficult when Cristian Romero was sent off in the second half.
There were boos at the final whistle when Tottenham’s European exit was confirmed, and fans on social media were also clearly unhappy with what they had seen of their team.
There have been calls for the junta to step aside in recent weeks, while Antonio Conte’s future is also up in the air as he continues to be linked with a return to Italy.
Fans feel that the board, Conte and the players must take their share of responsibility for Tottenham’s lackluster performance.

There have been calls from Tottenham fans for chairman Daniel Levy (right) to leave the club.
‘Board! Manager! Players! Hang your heads in shame!!’ wrote a supporter on Twitter.
Another fan summed up the Spurs performance in four words, labeling it: ‘Inept. no guts. No character. Useless.’ They also called for Conte and president Daniel Levy to leave the club.
Conte returned to the touchline for the first time in three weeks after spending time in Italy recovering from gallbladder surgery.
However, he did not escape the ire of some fans, with one of them questioning why he brought in Davinson Sánchez for Dejan Kulusevski late when Tottenham was desperate for a goal.
‘Inexplicable and unjustifiable decision to replace a central defender with a striker with nine minutes to go in a game in which we have to score. Stop. Conte out, and to be honest until he’s gone I’m out too’, they declared.
Tottenham reached the Champions League on the final day of last season, beating north London rivals Arsenal into fourth place.
They have another top-four battle on their hands this term, and after failing to win any of their last three games, one fan isn’t convinced Spurs will return to Europe’s elite competition any time soon.
‘The season is over. Shameful, we deserve absolutely nothing,” they insisted.
‘If the coach needs to lose his job, I want most of these players to go. Who knows when we will play another Champions League tie.
Tottenham’s motto is ‘To dare is to do’, but the team lacked urgency in their quest for a goal against Milan, with the Italian giants barely testing over the 90 minutes.
One fan suggested that the players and Conte need to remember what it means to represent Tottenham after their terrible performance.
‘That performance was shocking. Without desire, without creativity and without passion’, they wrote.
“I think the players and the coach should read the club’s motto because it has been forgotten!”
