Tottenham defender Ryan Sessegnon has undergone hamstring surgery to undermine the hopes of a number of Premier League clubs vying for his signature.
Sessegnon has suffered a recurrence of the injury he suffered at the end of last season and has gone under the knife.
The 23-year-old will miss the start of the season as his stint on the sidelines is likely to keep him out beyond the transfer window.

The news is a blow to Ange Postecoglou, who hoped to evaluate Sessegnon for the new season.
But the injury also spells the end of hopes for Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham to sign the former England Under-21 star.
No decision had yet been made on Sessegnon’s future at Tottenham Hotspur, but a host of clubs were in a position to strike if Spurs were open to letting him go. A number of European teams, including Benfica and Marseille, had also expressed interest.
