Tottenham’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest will go ahead as planned tonight despite a man being found dead outside the stadium.

Police and paramedics were called to Northumberland Park on the edge of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium early on Sunday morning.

A man was found dead with a number of stab wounds, the Metropolitan Police said.

CPR was performed, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Supporters have been advised to allow additional travel time, with the entire Northumberland Park Road and the northern end of Worcester Avenue closed.

The match, originally scheduled for Monday, will go ahead as planned at 6pm BST.

Spurs have also said they are doing their utmost to facilitate the investigation.

“As matters currently stand, the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest this afternoon will go ahead as planned, but the north end of Worcester Avenue and the entirety of Northumberland Park Road will remain closed throughout,” the club said.

‘We will inform supporters where and when we can, and ask fans to be patient and allow extra travel time.’

Officers think they know who the man is and are trying to inform his relatives. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Chief Inspector Stephen Johnston-Keay, a police officer in Haringey, said: “Our thoughts are with the man who tragically lost his life.

“I can assure local people that specialist detectives are investigating and will do everything possible to establish what happened to him and identify and arrest those responsible.

‘I would like to thank local people for their patience and understanding as we carry out this vital work.

‘If you have any information that could help us, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please tell us. You will see officers at the cordons and on patrol and they will be ready to listen to you.”
