Tottenham have confirmed they have agreed to sign highly-rated teenage defender Luka Vskovic from Hajduk Split, but the 16-year-old will not join the club until 2025.

Spurs had been linked with the Croatian for weeks. Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool were also rumored to be interested in the player, who attracted attention after helping Hajduk win the Croatian Cup last season.

He also made his debut for the club last year at the age of 15, becoming their youngest ever goalscorer after finding the net just days after his 16th birthday.

Announcing his arrival, Tottenham revealed he had signed a five-year contract starting in two years’ time.

“We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement for Luka Vskovic to join the club from Hajduk Split in 2025, in a deal lasting until 2030,” they said in a statement.

Vskovic led the Hajduk U19 team to the UEFA Youth League final last season, in addition to his first-team commitments.

Last week, Fabrizio Romano reported that Vskovic was only interested in joining Spurs, despite interest from five top clubs.

Although he won’t be working with boss Ange Postecoglou anytime soon, he hopes to become the next defender to shine under the Australian’s guidance.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, left-back Destiny Udogie and centre-back Micky Van de Ven have all impressed in the opening weeks of their debut Premier League campaigns.
