Tottenham pile up more misery at Everton by confirming the signing of Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal for the rest of the season after hijacking the striker’s move to Goodison Park.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a loan transfer to bring in Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal, marking his first signing of the January transfer window.

Danjuma seemed destined for Everton after reaching an agreement with the Merseyside club and passing a medical.

But Spurs have instead convinced the former Bournemouth star to move to north London.

The 25-year-old has agreed a move that will see him spend the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign with Antonio Conte’s side.

Danjuma also confirmed his arrival at Spurs on social media with a tweet showing three photos of him completing his move and tagging him with the club’s motto, saying: “To dare is to do.” Let’s get to work.’

The move will be a major blow to Everton, who had apparently completed a transfer for the striker over the weekend in what would have been his first incoming signing of the January window.

But amid turmoil from the club that sacked manager Frank Lampard, Spurs moved quickly to hijack the move at the last moment.

Conte’s side are hoping it will be the first of at least two transfers this week that have also approached right-back Pedro Porro.

The Champions League chasing team have long taken an interest in the Sporting Lisbon star and appear to have finally reached an agreement with the Portuguese club over a transfer fee.

However, Spurs will have to be wary of seeing one of their own transfers hijacked at great expense Chelsea also keeping an eye on any developments with the 23-year-old.
