James Maddison has completed his £45m move to Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou makes his third signing this summer.

Relegated Leicester have resigned themselves to losing star player Maddison, who has been seen as Spurs’ main target since leaving the Premier League.

The initial fee is believed to be in the region of £40m with add-ons taking the deal to £45m as Mail sports reported Tuesday night.

Maddison agreed personal terms of £170,000 a week and posed in his new shirt at the club’s Enfield base on Wednesday after signing a five-year contract.

The 26-year-old scored 19 goals in 32 appearances last season and will now enjoy attacking with compatriot Harry Kane.

Spurs teased his arrival by posting a video of a mysterious figure playing darts – wearing a Tottenham shirt in the background – as a sign of Maddison’s love of the sport.

They then posted another video showing it was Maddison throwing the darts at the backboard before the clip cut to the midfielder wearing a Spurs shirt.

A follow-up tweet showed him holding up his new kit with the caption, “We are thrilled to announce the signing of James Maddison! Let’s go, Madders.’

Newcastle were among the sides battling Tottenham for Maddison, but the Magpies eventually fell out of the race when they began chasing AC Milan’s Sandro Tonali instead.
