Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy claims Harry Kane can ‘absolutely’ win a trophy at the club

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy claims Harry Kane can ‘definitely’ win a trophy at the club amid fears the striker could leave this summer due to their lack of silverware… and says he wants a STATUE of his star player found

  • Harry Kane has been strongly linked with a departure from the Spurs this summer
  • The attacker still has one year left on his contract and Man United have been tipped for a bid
  • Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy believes Kane can be successful at the club

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy insists Harry Kane can finally raise silverware at the club – despite their 15 silverware drought – and wants to erect a statue of the striker amid doubts over his future.

Kane has been with Spurs since joining their academy in 2004 and has since become the club’s all-time top goalscorer with 273 goals, earning his status as one of the world’s best forwards.

The 29-year-old will become a free agent next year and is expected to have some interested suitors this summer, with the player still to pick up a trophy in his storied career.

But Spurs chief Levy, who will play a huge role in whether or not Kane stays in north London this summer, believes he can still be successful at the club.

He also suggested that being a Tottenham legend was an important factor in his future as he offered him a key role in their folklore.

Kane will be one of the most in-demand stars this summer with a year to go

“He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs,” Levy said during a speech at Cambridge University’s debate club via the athletics.

“But being a legend is also important. The fact that he is Tottenham Hotspur’s top scorer – he is making history.

“I hope there’s a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium someday.”

Levy is regarded as one of football’s toughest negotiators and any team looking to take Kane off their hands this summer will face tough talks.

Sportsmail has reported that Manchester United are interested in Kane this summer while Erik ten Hag are looking for a reliable goalscorer, but it would likely cost around £100 million to part ways with the England captain.

Levy dismissed claims about his tough reputation as a negotiator, but insisted he had every right to turn down bids for his key players

However, Levy rejected claims about his tough reputation, saying he is simply acting in the best interests of the club – but said he had every right to turn down a bid for a player he didn’t want to sell.

“I don’t consider myself a special negotiator or anything like that, I just act in the interest of my club,” said Levy.

“I think the transfer depends on the balance of power.

‘If you have a player that you really don’t want to sell, you have every right to say no, you own the registration.

“It also depends on the character of the player, whether at the end you feel you can keep the player, because we operate in a team sport, it is very important that we keep the team together. Every circumstance is different.’
