Tottenham are on the verge of signing highly-rated Croatian centre-back Luka Vskovic from Hajduk Split, according to reports.

The 16-year-old made eight appearances in the Croatian top flight last season and was chased by teams across Europe.

Vskovic helped Hajduk win the Croatian Cup and became the club’s youngest ever goalscorer after finding the net just days after his 16th birthday.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the defender has agreed to a move to north London on Sunday.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle had all previously shown interest in Vuskovic, but it appears Ange Postecoglou’s side have won the race for his signature.

Manchester City were also keen to sign the defender, who captained the Hajduk U19 team to the UEFA Youth League final last season, in addition to his first-team commitments.

It is not yet clear when he will officially join Spurs, but he will be the next exciting addition to Postecoglou’s new look defense in north London.

The new signings have helped Spurs to an unbeaten start to the Premier League season, leaving Postecoglou’s men in second place in the opening standings.

They are back in action after the international break when they host Sheffield United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, September 16.
