Tori Spelling says she now has friendly dinners with Dean McDermott and his new love – despite once throwing a baked potato during a ‘beastly’ fight before an ugly divorce

Tori Spelling opened up about where she stands with her ex Dean McDermott and his new girlfriend Lily Calo following the former couple’s turbulent breakup.

The Beverly Hills 90210 alum, 50 — who filed for divorce from Dean, 57, in March after 18 years of marriage — said she now enjoys family meals with the new lovebirds.

‘I really like Lily. It is not bad. You just know it’s different. Right?’ the star said of the gatherings on the latest episode of her podcast spelling mistakewhich dropped on Monday.

“We have a really good co-parenting relationship right now,” she added, referring to her and Dean’s five children: Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7.

Tori also opened up about the explosive fight between her and Dean that led to their split, with the actress slamming a baked potato on the floor.

The actress said she and Dean got into an argument after returning home from a day on set in June 2023.

Dean would have insulted her which he knew would be really hurtful to hear.

The actress did not reveal Dean’s exact words, but recalled that his comment affected her deeply – so much so that she angrily threw a loaded baked potato she was preparing onto the kitchen floor.

“This guttural scream came out of me,” Tori recalled. “It wasn’t even a sexy scream, like running in a horror movie. It was beastly. It wasn’t pretty at all.’

‘And I was like, ‘F*** you!’ And at that moment I grabbed my most valuable possession: my baked potato. It was loaded to perfection and I knocked it to the ground.”

After her outburst, a wave of regret washed over Spelling. She retreated to a bedroom and reflected that she and Dean had been sleeping apart for about three years by then, a decision she attributed to him.

An ‘excited’ Dean started banging on the closed door before entering the bedroom through an outside entrance that Tori had overlooked.

“So he came in and he was very upset. And he said, “I want a divorce. This is over.” And I said, “Okay. Great. Okay.”‘

That same day, Tori recalls, Dean publicly announced their divorce via an Instagram post, which she only became aware of when her 15-year-old daughter informed her.

She added, “It felt like this giant rock was lifted off my chest. I could take a deep breath and think, “Oh my God. He said it, so now I’m free.” . . He did it, and now I can move on. He put it there. Let’s go. Yes. I needed this. “I couldn’t do it myself.”

Dean deleted the post the next morning, but by then news of the split had gone viral. The couple “just carried on as if nothing had happened.”

Last month, on the same day that Tori Spelling recorded the debut episode of her podcast, she made a surprise call to Dean McDermott to inform him about filing for divorce.

A day later, Dean broke his silence on the divorce filing, saying he and Tori were “all good.”

The former couple met on the set of the TV movie Mind Over Murder in 2005.

There was an instant connection, even though they were both already married.

“We had a very fast, passionate falling in love period,” the actress said on her podcast, describing it as a “fast and furious romance.”

She praised Dean for letting her be herself. “I just remember being able to make him see me.”

Continuing, she explained, “It wasn’t as cute as, giggling, ‘This is what people want me to be.’ I was able to be loud and like ugh, Tori’s body type. I could have had a chicken mouth,” she claimed.

“I’m not just Donna Martin, the perfect good girl. I could have a bad girl inside me and that was okay. And he liked all those aspects and he liked how smart I was and accepted me.”

In May 2006, Tori and Dean tied the knot.

In a scoop revealed by DailyMail.com in October, it was revealed that Dean had started a new relationship with Lily, a 34-year-old account manager. He has since moved to live with her.

Not to be overshadowed, shortly after images of Dean with his new partner surfaced, Tori was spotted on a date with her CEO boyfriend, Ryan Cramera.

However, despite these developments, Dean expressed his enduring love for Tori and shared no regrets about their shared past in a candid interview with DailyMail.com.

He said: ‘It was a total fairytale. I mean, it was a beautiful love story. Love at first sight and getting married in the most beautiful way possible.’

In the interview, Dean described how their marriage imploded as he and Tori grew apart – with their problems exacerbated by his addiction to booze and prescription drugs.

“All Tori has done to this day is want me to be happy and healthy, and I have caused a lot of damage and pain to that woman,” he told DailyMail.com.

‘I take responsibility for that today. And it’s the biggest change I’ll ever have to make.”
