A former sports star is among shocked parents who discovered the man said to be Australia’s worst ever pedophile was working at their children’s nursery.
Ashley Paul Griffith, 45, was this week identified as the man accused of 1,600 offences, including 136 rapes, while working in childcare in Queensland.
They are now holding an emergency meeting at a Gold Coast community center on Friday evening to support each other in the wake of the disturbing revelation.
The high-profile Queensland sporting hero, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is expected to join them.
They claim they were kept in the dark about the allegations against Griffith, despite the childcare worker being charged with the offenses 12 months ago.

They say Griffith was known to them as a ‘quiet and shy’ man, but have called on police to now check every other children’s center he has previously worked at.
The institution at the center of the parents’ anger insists it is not involved in the lawsuits, the court reports. Gold Coast Bulletin.
“Ashley met all the requirements to work as a childcare educator, including the Working with Kindercheck Blue Card, and completed Child Protection training,” the center told parents.
“We can confirm that a small number of teachers and management were aware of the allegations following his arrest and had been in contact with the AFP before his details were released.
“Please note that we are required by Queensland law and have been requested by the AFP not to share, discuss or advise on the investigation with anyone.
‘We know that this inability to discuss will not happen again in the future, with the change in the law, and we welcome this.
“We are sorry for the shock this sudden information has caused and we share your concerns.”
