Jared Kushner is in real estate. Hunter is in influence peddling: Top Republican dismisses claims he’s ignoring Trump family trade deals as he takes aim at Biden’s son’s ties to China

  • House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer held a question-and-answer session at the National Press Club on Monday.
  • He rejected the idea that he was ignoring the business dealings of former President Donald Trump’s family while going after the Bidens.
  • Comer explained that while Jared Kushner is in real estate, it seemed like Hunter Biden was in the “influence peddling” business.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Monday dismissed the idea that he is ignoring the foreign business dealings of former President Donald Trump’s family while focusing on Hunter Biden’s dealings with China.

‘So when you look [Jared Kushner] – and again I’m not defending him – I know what business he was in. He’s in the real estate business,’ Comer said as he headlined an event at the National Press Club. ‘What business is Hunter Biden in? I would say he is influence peddling and I have a problem with that.

Now, with Comer in charge of the powerful Oversight Committee, Republicans have launched an investigation into President Joe Biden, with Comer explaining that the ‘Biden family influence peddling’ investigation and the investigations into the discovered classified documents were connected and they fell under the same investigation.

“It’s really an investigation,” Comer explained to Emily Wilkins of Bloomberg Government. “The reason I am concerned about the Biden documents is because there is some reason China has donated so much money to different Biden interests. I don’t think they do it out of the goodness of his heart.

Comer explained that the difference between Hunter Biden (left) and Jared Kushner (right) is that he knows Kushner is in real estate, while it appears the president’s son Joe Biden was “influence peddling.”

Comer said she did not believe Biden simply having classified documents was an impeachable offense, as expressed by committee member Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green.

“It is contestable whether he was using those documents to benefit his family, which there is no evidence that he did,” Comer said.

“If anyone can bring me evidence that Trump was using documents or insider trading, we will look into it,” he added.

Comer suggested that he thought Hunter Biden’s business was stinky.

The Kentucky Republican has been trying to obtain suspicious activity reports from Hunter Biden, but has so far been denied access by the Treasury Department.

‘I’ll say this, if they’re not much, then why don’t they let us have access to them?’

‘Because I can tell you that I would be very surprised if a bank filed a suspicious activity report on the son of the sitting Vice President of the United States, unless they were pretty sure that some kind of major breach had taken place. with that suspicious activity report,’ Comer continued.

He also said that Republicans had seen some of the reports, and they didn’t look good.

“So we’ve seen enough to know there’s a problem there,” Comer said.

Still, Comer called Hunter Biden a “witness” and not the subject of the investigation, saying the first child would not be brought before Congress anytime soon.

“Right now, we just want the bank records,” Comer said.
