Top Republicans Compare Biden Document Scandal To WATERGATE As Democratic Senator Questions How Documents Can Be ‘Accidentally’ Removed From Classified Facilities

  • Rep. McCaul said the Biden classified documents scandal could be as big as Watergate
  • He is chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Homeland Security panel.
  • Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine doesn’t know how someone can “accidentally” remove classified documents from secure locations
  • DOJ found six more documents at Biden’s property in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Questions about whether the president’s other properties should be searched

Michael McCaul suggested that the Joe Biden classified documents scandal could be as big as Watergate, as it calls for the president to be prosecuted, with even more Democrats quick to admit it was a misstep.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) found six more classified documents this weekend at Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, raising questions about whether the FBI will ultimately search the president’s other homes.

Biden is now known to have taken at least 25 to 30 classified White House documents from his years as vice president and stored them at his home in Delaware and his think tank in Washington, DC.

Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine said there isn’t really a way to “accidentally” take home classified materials and documents because of the way they’re handled.

Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and a member of the Homeland Security panel, suggested that President Joe Biden’s classified documents scandal could be as big as Watergate.

“I really don’t know the answer to that question,” the Virginia senator said when asked by CBS Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan what an “accident” could look like.

“I review classified materials as a senator in the Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees, but when I do, it’s always in a classified facility where I don’t have access to the materials other than to sit there and read them,” he said. .

Kaine reiterated the need for an independent investigation into the latest scandal.

‘How many documents are we talking about?’ she questioned.

Rep. McCaul, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee and sits on the Homeland Security panel, said Biden’s handling of the documents is irresponsible.

The Justice Department found six more documents at Biden's property in Wilmington, Delaware, raising questions about whether they should search the president's other properties.

“I don’t know who these documents belong to,” McCaul told ABC This Week host Martha Raddatz on Sunday. All I know is that the documents were there.

“Just a bunch of unanswered questions,” he added. ‘This broke out a week before the midterm elections and was swept under the rug. Now, we’re just finding out.

“You know, Watergate started out as a very small robbery and it led to the resignation of the president of the United States,” McCaul said when asked if there would be political consequences for Biden’s actions. So, I don’t know what’s in there until we see the documents.

Watergate was a major political scandal involving the administration of President Richard Nixon that led to his resignation. It stemmed from the then-President’s efforts to cover up his involvement in the June 17, 1972 home invasion of the DNC headquarters in the Watergate Office Building.

McCaul lamented that if he or his wife brought classified documents home from work, they would be prosecuted.

Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine said he doesn't know how anyone can

Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine said he doesn’t know how someone could “accidentally” remove classified documents from secure locations.

‘There should be a different standard even if you’re, you know, I know he says he declassified them, you know, Biden called him totally irresponsible, but he’s still guilty of the same sin, so to speak, by bringing these documents home. ,’ he said.

‘Why are they taking these documents home? I don’t understand. I have lived in a classified world for a long time.

Federal officials are now “considering whether to conduct searches” in additional areas to find more materials at Biden’s Wilmington home.

This potentially includes searching the president’s vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, which is where Biden spent his weekend outside of Washington, DC, as he avoided going to his residence where the Justice Department searched his files.

Meanwhile, the representative for the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, said his investigation into the Biden family was moving into its “next phase.”

These investigations reportedly involve both the president’s classified documents and finances, along with those of his son Hunter Biden.

Let’s review the bank statements. We will be investigating the banking violations,” Comer told the Washington Examiner.
