Top NFL draft prospect and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young ‘is only 5ft 10’

The top NFL draft prospect and Alabama quarterback, Bryce Young, “is only 5-foot-10 and some teams have reservations about him because of his size” … despite Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay, talked about him in recent weeks.

Bryce Young has the NFL’s eyes on him with the scouting mix coming up and has once again turned the conversation to what is apparently the only dent in his armor: his height.

A new report from Sports Illustrated claims that the Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback is five feet 10 1/2 inches tall and that some NFL teams are hesitant to take a chance on him because of his height.

The report quotes an NFC team executive as saying: ‘If I were as big as Justin Fields, there would be no discussion. Chicago would take it and leave Justin (Fields, the team’s current QB) behind.’

Daniel Jeremiah, a former NFL scout and now NFL Network draft analyst, added: “If Bryce Young was 6’3” and 220 pounds, I’d be talking about him like I talked about Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence.

It’s ESPN analyst Todd McShay making the claim about Young’s height, saying, ‘I love Bryce Young, I really love him. I know that he is 195 pounds; a very good friend of mine who is a scout had him at 5’10½’.

Alabama’s Bryce Young is one of the top prospects for the next NFL draft

But there are questions about his size and whether that would stop him in the NFL.

‘But I met him, I’ve talked to him. He is special. He is diferent.

‘He’s got the poise, the pocket presence, the game, everything else you want. I love Bryce Young. I’d bet on him… (but) if I’m a GM, I’m scared to death of taking him.’

In early February, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay made no secret of his appreciation of Young’s talent.

“We’re not hiding, no one can shy away from the fact (of) what it means to be a quarterback in this league and how we have to look forward to where Shane (Steichen, the new offensive coordinator) and Chris (Ballard) really dig in this one. draft and really see where you are,” Irsay explained.

‘Will you stay still? do you change? There are many things you can do. (The Eagles) took Jalen (Hurts) out in the second round…although the guy from Alabama doesn’t look bad, I tell you. But it will be exciting.

The Colts have the fourth pick, as is, so they’ll need to trade if they want to ensure they have Young on the roster for the 2023 season.

According to reports this week, Young will not be pitching at the scouts’ combine because of a shoulder issue he has been dealing with since he was injured Oct. 1.

Meanwhile, the NFL Draft begins on April 28.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has spoken positively of Young and his potential.
