Top five most successful chases in Wankhede in the Indian Premier League

Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium is known for its high-scoring matches and has produced one of the biggest chases in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Here are the five most successful chases achieved at the home ground of Mumbai Indians in the history of the IPL.

The highest successful run chase in the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium is thanks to the home team Mumbai Indians who chased 213 against the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. This was the same match in which Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century but ultimately ended up the losing side.

In IPL 2023, Mumbai were in a chase as they had chased three of a total of 200 or more at their home. The second highest was against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chasing 201 to win, Cameron Green hit a 47-ball 100 to take the home side to victory.

Suryakumar Yadav was instrumental in all Mumbai chases of 200 or above in IPL 2023. Against RCB, the blue and gold brigade crossed the line as they reached the target of 200 with 21 balls to spare. Surya hit a 35-ball 83 in that match.

198- Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings, IPL 2019

Before IPL 2023, no successful chase of 200 or more was possible in the Wankhede as the highest successful chase record was 198 by the hosts MI against the Punjab Kings. In this game, Kieron Pollard hit a 31-ball 83 to cancel out a brilliant century from KL Rahul.

In 2021, Delhi Capitals managed to chase 196 against the Punjab King at the Wankhede Stadium. In that match, Shikhar Dhawan hit 49-ball 92 to take home the Capitals.
