Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly sensationally agreed a £173 million a year contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr that would make him the biggest earner in the sport.

The 37-year-old had his contract with Manchester United terminated earlier this month after a tumultuous relationship with club chiefs that only worsened when he made some controversial statements in a TV interview with Piers Morgan.

And now Ronaldo is said to have agreed a two-and-a-half year contract with Al Nassr – worth an eye-watering £173 million a year – in which he will play until the age of 40, according to Spanish newspaper outlet Marca.

If he completes the move, Ronaldo’s eye-watering salary would make him the highest-earning person in the sport, according to Forbes.

In light of the Ronaldo news, Sportsmail looks at the top 10 highest earners across all sports, assuming the Portuguese superstar moves to Saudi Arabia.

We followed the official ‘Forbes Highest Paid Athletes 2022 List’which means there is no room for Kylian Mbappé.

However, after signing a stellar new PSG deal in May, the Frenchman will earn £107 million a year, so it is expected that he will be listed in 2023.

James is also a partner in Fenway Sports Group, meaning he co-owns several sports teams, including Liverpool – earning £101.4 million a year.
