An irate Queensland father has spoken out after his teenage daughter was treated in hospital on Sunday afternoon following a violent alleged assault.

The girl was repeatedly hit in the head and forced to cower on the floor after being kicked and stomped during the alleged attack, leaving her with chipped teeth, a nosebleed, cuts and bruises.

Disgustingly, the attack was filmed and later posted to social media along with shocking comments about the alleged victim.

The teen was sitting alone at a table in Toowoomba’s Grand Central Shopping Center when she was reportedly assaulted by three other teenage girls.

Her father told 7News the group accused his daughter of saying “inappropriate things” about a relative of the girls.

The “extremely angry” father said he felt “sick in the stomach” that someone was filming the incident instead of helping his daughter.

“If it were your child, you’d want someone to help you,” he said. “I would have jumped in and at least got the girls out.”

Of all the people who were there at the time, only one woman tried to stop the alleged attack before she was also allegedly attacked by the group of girls.

Despite the severity of the alleged assault, the man said his daughter’s nose was “surprisingly not broken.”

His distraught daughter was in shock at what happened. “She sat there and wondered why,” the father said.

He has called for stronger action against bullying, saying, “Even adults can’t walk around without being harassed by these kids.”

A Queensland Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that a 19-year-old woman from South Toowoomba has been charged with the alleged assault.

She will face Toowoomba Magistrates Court on May 8.

The investigation is continuing and police are urging any witnesses to come forward.

Australia’s online safety push

Australia announced last year that it would be spearheading an online safety campaign along with three other countries.

The Australian eSafety Commission has announced it is working with online regulators from the UK, Ireland and Fiji to draft new laws to combat abuse, harmful content and illegal material on social networks.

Representatives from the four countries announced their collaboration at a conference in Washington DC in November, revealing that the Global Online Safety Regulators Network would collaborate on an “international approach to online safety regulation.”

That followed Australia’s introduction of a world-first adult cyber-abuse and Online Safety Act in January, and follows major cuts to online safety and moderation teams on Twitter and Facebook.

The collaboration was praised early on by social media experts, who said the fight against online abuse and cyberbullying needed “all the firepower.”

The group would include Australia’s eSafety Commission, UK communications regulator Ofcom, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and Fiji’s Online Safety Commission.
