A celebrity dentist who has worked on celebrities including musician Nick Cave and trucking boss Lindsay Fox has been accused of bashing and threatening to kill a woman.
George Paltoglou, 60, Melbourne’s leading dentist Smile Center in Toorak, has been charged with five counts of assault and was brought before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Mr Paltoglou is charged with making a threat to kill, two counts of assault, malicious damage to property and recklessly causing injury.
His lawyer had previously fought to keep his client’s name out of the public domain, but had been unsuccessful.
Police arrested the dental surgeon at his workplace in Malvern Road last weekend, the Herald Sun reported.

Mr. Paltoglou’s client list also includes movie stars like Jackson Gallagher, models Sarah Burns and Bonnee Fahlstrom, and high-profile sports stars like Australian Test team cricketer and Victorian captain Peter Handscomb.
Paltoglou’s attorney, Gavan Burns, objected Friday a media request for court material, arguing that it could identify the victim.
However, Magistrate Tara Hartnett rejected the objection and instead struck out the victim’s name.
Mr Burns told the court his client had faced additional charges on Thursday and over the weekend.
He successfully requested an extension to process the new charges and information.
Paltoglou did not address the court during Friday’s hearing and was ordered to return on March 27.
The charge of threatening to kill carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
