Too busy to find love? Send a robot instead! ‘AI dating concierge’ can date hundreds of people for you, Bumble founder claims
The 2023 blockbuster stars Robots, Shailene Woodley and Jack Whitehall as singles who send robot doubles of themselves on dates.
While this may sound far-fetched, it could soon become a reality.
That’s what Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of dating app Bumble, says.
Speaking at the Bloomberg Tech Summit, Herd, 34, claimed that daters could soon use an “AI dating concierge” to go out on hundreds of dates for them.
“If you really want to go out there, there’s a world where your (AI) dating concierge can go and date another dating concierge for you,” she said.

Speaking at the Bloomberg Tech Summit, Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of the dating app Bumble, claimed that daters could soon use an “AI dating concierge” to go on hundreds of dates for them.
Speaking to host Emily Chang at the summit, Herd explained: “For example, in the near future you could talk to your AI dating concierge and share your insecurities.
“I just got out of a breakup, I have commitment issues,” and it might help you train yourself to think about yourself in a better way.
‘Really. And then you don’t have to talk to 600 people.
“It scans all of San Francisco for you and says, ‘These are the three people you really don’t want to meet again.’
Herd added that she wished AI would help people “create healthier and more equitable relationships.”

A Bumble spokesperson said this later NBC that the company can “see a future where AI can continue to foster positive relationships between people.”
“Bumble is a place to make safe, friendly and authentic connections, helping people meet online and then take the connection offline,” the statement said.
Earlier this month, Bumble made headlines after dropping its long-standing requirement for female users to connect.
The dating app announced a major app update and redesign, including a new ‘opening move’ tool.
This allows users – both men and women – to ask a question for their matches to answer as a way to start the conversation.

Lidiane Jones, CEO of Bumble, said: ‘We’ve always believed that if you make dating better for women, you make it better for everyone.
“Listening to our community, many have shared their exhaustion with the current online dating experience, and for some that includes taking the first step.”
Speaking about the app’s recent rebrand, Herd said: ‘In a few years we won’t be a dating app anymore.
“Dating will be a part, but we will be a real human connection platform.
‘Here you can meet anyone you want to meet: a walking buddy, a mahjong buddy, whatever you’re looking for.’
