The actress was previously said to be the host of the Tony Awards ceremony, which was originally set to take place on June 11.
She also hosted the 75th annual Tony Awards ceremony, which was televised last year.
It was confirmed last month that DeBose had been confirmed to return to headline the star-studded event, which celebrates achievements in the theater world.

The artist was previously nominated for the 2018 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her work in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.
However, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the 76th Tony Awards would not be televised on June 11 as scheduled in a report released on Friday.
According to the media outlet, the Tony Awards management committee has petitioned the currently-striking Writers Guild for a waiver to allow the show to go ahead as planned.
