Toni Collette debuts mysterious black eye in Instagram post after jetting to Paris to film new project with Twilight director

Toni Collette had reason to worry this weekend after waking up with a mysterious black eye.

The Australian actress, 51, who recently flew to Paris ahead of filming her new comedy film A French Pursuit, woke up on Saturday looking worse for wear after discovering a dark spot around her eye.

The Hereditary star shared a mirror selfie on Instagram Stories, showing her looking tired and disheveled in a gray hoodie.

“I’m jet lagged and woke up with a black eye?” she wrote underneath the image.

‘How why how why why?’ she added, ending her message with a panda emoji.

Luckily, the black eye didn’t dampen her spirits, as Toni later shared a photo of herself enjoying dinner at a local restaurant with Twilight filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke and producer Christopher Simon.

A French car chase is described as a ‘reimagining’ of The 2020 French hit My Donkey, My Lover & I (Antoinette Dans Les Cévennes) by Caroline Vignal.

It’s a whimsical story about a free-spirited woman who searches for love and ultimately embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

Toni will play the lead role of Zoe Turner, a quirky British art teacher who falls in love with Jean-Louis.

However, the couple’s plans for a romantic getaway are ruined when Jean-Louis is forced to join his family on a donkey trek in the south of France, leaving Zoe heartbroken.

Thanks to her mother’s encouragement, Zoë decides to embark on a dangerous journey and follow Jean-Louis on the back of a donkey.
