Toni Collette caught liking posts about relationships and being a ‘powerful woman’ after split

Toni Collette is harboring heartbreak following her divorce from her drummer husband of 20 years, Dave Galafassi.

And in recent weeks, the actress, 50, has been caught appreciating some relationship quotes and powerful messages about being a “powerful f**king woman” following her breakup.

Dave, who was a drummer in an indie rock band when he met the About a Boy star, confirmed their split in December when he was pictured passionately kissing chiropractor Shannon Egan on Sydney’s Manly Beach.

Daily Mail Australia reached out to Toni’s management about the photos, and hours later she announced the couple’s split in a joint statement on her newly reactivated Instagram account.

One post shared by actress Viola Davis, 57, contained a series of quotes including: “May you share your life with someone who is proof of ‘if you know, you know.'”

Friends say the Muriel’s Wedding star, 50, has a long way to go before she can really move on from the heartbreak.

“She hasn’t recovered from her breakup yet and won’t be anytime soon,” a longtime friend of the actress told the publication.

The source also said Toni is “devastated” that her breakup “has become so public,” and is struggling to enjoy work commitments, such as promoting her latest film The Estate.

“Toni is a wonder how she is able to pull herself together and keep functioning,” the friend said. “The promotional side of movies is something she normally enjoys, but not when her life is a mess.”

Toni, who shares daughter Sage, 14, and son Arlo, 11, with her ex, is also said to be concerned about navigating the new territory of co-parenting.

The pair met in 2002 at the launch of Galafassi’s band’s debut album Metal Detector in Sydney, and their second meeting came just a few days later at a house party.

They married in Buddhist ritual on her property in Berry on the NSW south coast, less than a year after they met, in January 2003.
