An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 shook Tonga on Monday morning.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 70 miles (112 km) and the epicenter was located 45 miles (70 km) northwest of Fangale’ounga, the USGS reported.
The quake was recorded at around 9:30 am local time and Tongan authorities urged locals to seek higher ground.
The Bureau of Meteorology has said there is no tsunami risk to Australia.
