Tom Sandoval calls out the iconic LA bakery after their sudden closure, saying they almost pushed it 'over the edge' with 'Sandoval's a Liar' cake

Tom Sandoval has called out iconic Los Angeles bakery Sweet Lady Jane following their sudden closure, after previously targeting him with a 'Sandoval's a liar' cake.

The bakery, famous for its triple berry cake, shocked their customers on New Year's Day when they announced that – after 35 years in business – they would be closing their doors at all locations due to rising operating costs in California.

Sandoval, 40, – who was recently criticized for posing with a captured tiger – was tagged in the comments of the post by friend Billie Lee, who wrote: “Karma?” along with a laughing emoji and a waving hand emoji.

The Vanderpump Rules star replied, writing, “I've never had a @sweetladyjane cake that wasn't super dried out. Maybe people were starting to realize it?'

“Also charging $$$ for selling cakes with my name in negative chant (sic) on them really hurt my feelings and almost pushed me over the edge. Good riddance,” he added.

Last year, the pastry chef posted a photo of their famous triple berry cake with the tagline “Sandoval's a liar” after cheating on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix with Raquel Leviss.

Billie then replied to Tom, writing: 'Now we know they were desperate to sell cakes but the hateful negative approach clearly didn't work.'

Tom and Billie clapped back at the pastry shop for posting a photo of their triple berry cake with the tagline “Sandoval's a liar” last year, after Sandoval cheated on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix with co-star Raquel Leviss.

On the last season of Vanderpump Rules, Sandoval's affair with Madix's boyfriend Raquel, 29, was exposed, ending their nine-year relationship and causing Raquel to leave the show.

The quote “Sandoval is a liar” originally came from Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy.

Billie jumped into the comments at the time to defend Sandoval, tagging Sweet Lady Jane as she wrote, “Y'all are a pastry chef! Like WTF! Real!?'

“How about a mental health cake because these people are real people and they make mistakes,” she continued.

While she didn't mention Sandoval, she wrote, “You are literally profiting from people's suffering.”

On Monday, the beloved bakery announced their closure on Instagram, writing, “Dear community, after 35 years we are closing our doors. Our last day of work was December 31, 2023.”

Commenting on the bakery's closure announcement, he wrote: 'Charging $$$ for selling cakes with my name in a negative sense (sic) on it really hurt my feelings and almost pushed me over the edge. Tidy and tidy'

'We did not come to this decision lightly or quickly. While the support and loyalty of our customers is strong, sales are not enough to continue doing business in the state of California, which allows us to meet our lease obligations and pay our cherished employees a living wage without passing these costs directly to you calculate. '

'Over three decades we have not only built a loyal customer base, but also created a true community. It was a privilege to be involved in your most beautiful moments. Big and small.'

The post ended with: “LA's most beloved Triple Berry Cake will live on in your memories, and ours. Thank you. Dear lady Jane.'

It comes after Sandoval's other co-star, Lala Kent, criticized him for sharing a video of himself posing with a tiger in captivity.

On Wednesday morning, the reality personality, 33, said on Instagram that she was “shocked” that her costar appeared to support “animal cruelty” during his trip to Thailand.

The drama all goes back to his Instagram post from the day before, in which he visited a tiger zoo and posed with a tiger.

“I'm shocked by the photo my cast member took with a tiger in captivity,” Lala wrote on a blank background. 'This subject has been close to my heart for years.

“What's disguised as 'fun' and 'cool' is actually animal cruelty,” she continued. 'It's heartbreaking.

She added, “I've made a lot of noise about educating yourself, and here I have to tell you again… Don't support places like this.”

Sandoval had enjoyed a trip to Thailand with his costar, Tom Schwartz, 41, and famed jewelry designer Kyle Chan.

Later in the day, he informed his 955,000 followers of his New Year's holiday and posted a daring video of himself feeding a piece of raw chicken to a tiger.

This comes over a week after he made a public announcement to his fans not to choose infidelity despite doing so and even creating the infamous Scandoval drama.

Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules premieres Tuesday, January 30 at 8 PM ET/PT on Bravo and will be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
