Tom Holland’s dad mercilessly mocked after charging fans $4 to read blog about son’s engagement to Zendaya
Zendaya and Tom Holland’s holiday engagement is the Hollywood fairytale romance that has captured the hearts of romantics everywhere, but confirmation of the news from Tom’s father is raising eyebrows.
News of the engagement emerged after the Golden Globes last week, after much speculation about her jewelry on the red carpet, with eagle-eyed fans noticing she debuted gorgeous new bling – on her ring finger.
While fans are happy for the happy couple – who met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 – they couldn’t help but find it strange that the news was confirmed by Tom Holland’s father, Dominic, via his Patreon blog.
Dominic posted confirmation of his 28-year-old son’s engagement to his Patreon, a site for creatives where readers pay for subscriptions.
“The engagement is now confirmed and why I’m writing about it here, but without adding anything new and juicy like a date, location, guest list,” the father of four wrote in the Dec. 10 post that cost $4 to to read.
While fans loved the details in the post — like the fact that Tom asked Zendaya’s father for permission — many were amused by the fact that Dominic had a Patreon at all and were quick to wonder why.
“I need to know who subscribes to Tom Holland’s dad’s Patreon,” one confused fan wrote to X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Sorry quick question, why does Tom Holland’s dad have a Patreon?” asked another.

“Why does Tom Holland’s dad have a Patreon,” came another blunt response.
“This isn’t real shade but who the hell pays for Tom Holland’s dad’s Patreon,” another responded.
“Why does Tom Holland’s dad have a Patreon, like the whole family is helping pay off the ring or is that Spiderman money not being passed on?” another X user joked.
According to Dominic’s post, he launched his blog during the lockdown.
“Like many ‘artists’, I came to Patreon during the lockdown when our wise politicians shut down the world, my calendar emptied and my income dropped to zero,” he wrote.
He added that he is “sufficiently self-aware” about why many people subscribe to his blog.
“Most of my clients come in vicariously, my skill is whether I can keep them or not. A lot of people hoping for Tom only last a month and have to accept their $2 loss – which is the least I can charge anyway,” he joked.

Earlier this week, Zendaya’s father, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, denied a report that suggested Tom asked him for his daughter’s hand in marriage before the proposal.

The comedian and writer delved into some details of the engagement, revealing that Tom was “very incredibly well prepared” to pop the question to his longtime girlfriend.
‘He had bought a ring. He had spoken to her father and received permission to propose to his daughter,” he wrote. “Tom had everything planned.”
He cunningly added his own proposal to his wife Nikki, when we were not well thought out or planned.
‘My own proposal [was] Nothing beats my oldest son, who has clearly seen all the slushy movies because growing up I never saw him read a book,” he joked in the blog post.
He added: ‘For most men, the stress of buying an engagement ring is being able to afford it. I suspect this was the least of Tom’s worries, more concerned about the stone, its size and clarity, the case, which jeweler…’

When approached for comment about his response to 28-year-old Zendaya getting engaged to Tom, Kazembe told DailyMail.com that there was “a lot of nonsense” being reported.
“That was a bunch of bullshit from TMZ,” he said before adding, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
When a DailyMail.com reporter asked for more answers, he declined to comment further.

The ring is believed to have come from fashionable New Zealand-born and London-based jeweler Jessica McCormack, and is estimated to be worth more than $200,000.
