Tom Holland skipped the Met Gala as he recovers from golf head injury but praised girlfriend Zendaya’s edgy looks with sweet Instagram post

Tom Holland missed the 2024 Met Gala in New York on Monday as he recovers from a minor head injury suffered while playing golf.

The 27-year-old actor and girlfriend Zendaya, 27, were one of the co-chairs of this year’s event, with fans expecting the Spider-Man: No Way Home star to join her.

However, that same day he shared an Instagram Story showing a red bruise at the top of his forehead, which he suffered during a round of golf in Scotland late last month.

‘Anyone who ever said golf is not a contact sport is full of nonsense. You can almost see the dimples,” he wrote on the photo.

Even though he wasn’t there, Tom supported his other half on social media, sharing photos of two of the four outfits she wore on the night and adding three heart-eye emojis to his caption.

Tom also tagged his father Dominic Holland’s Patreon page on the fracture of his bruise, linking to a post where Dominic shared a funny story about how the injury happened.

Dominic reported that “a golf ball hit his head,” although he added that it was not a serious injury.

“In fact, he was hit by a sand wedge from 80 yards, albeit by a scratch golfer who should have known better and, quite frankly, been more accurate,” he continued.

“The offending player was Alex Roberts, a good friend of Tom’s… without knowing that his most important and valuable friend was to his left on the green.”

‘[Tom was] “I was lucky to play in Scotland (the birthplace of golf) in April, when woolen hats are mandatory for survival,” his father joked.

He then added that his son had been “sent to the hospital for some checks.”

A number of witnesses claim the star was unaware the stray ball was hurtling towards him before it hit him on the forehead.

The actor, who plays off a six handicap and regularly appears at amateur events, played near St Andrews in Fife in the first Tom Holland Charity Golf Day.

The golf tournament will benefit The Brothers Trust and the Sands: International Film Festival of St. Andrews.

Tom appeared that evening at the opening gala of a film festival at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews, with a round, red abrasion on his head.

Meanwhile, Zendaya had a blast on Sunday as she stepped out in four incredible looks.

Tom shared close-ups of the two she wore on the Met Gala red carpet.

The first look made waves on the internet as the beauty made a statement in a stunning blue and green dress.

The custom dress from Maison Margiela by John Galliano featured branch and fruit accents that matched the theme of the Garden of Time dress.

The Challengers star added a Bulgari necklace and a statement veiled hat with a feather, while a faux bird balanced on her shoulder.

Zendaya completed the striking look with dramatic eye makeup, thinner brows and dark-hued lip gloss.

To make sure all eyes were on her, she then stepped out again in a black Givenchy by John Galliano 1996 dress.

The dramatic dress showed off her cleavage and tiny waist, while she added a pop of color with a circa-2007 Alexander McQueen floral hat.

Finally, Zendaya went braless under a pastel pink sequin dress with a plunging neckline as she took the stage at the event to speak alongside her co-chairs Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny.

She later wore a Greek-style dress with a pleated bodice and flowing skirt as she headed to Loewe’s after-party in New York.

Zendaya and Tom met while working on the Spider-Man trilogy in 2016. The two confirmed their relationship in 2021.

Last month, it was reported that the two could walk down the aisle in the future. “There has been talk of marriage, and that is reality,” says a source People.

“They’re not the kind of stars who merge most of their lives on social media,” the insider added.

“Both are private,” the person said, noting that putting their romance in the spotlight “hasn’t been easy or comfortable for either of them.”

The person close to the actors also said that “work is important for both of them and is keeping them busy right now.”
