“Once you’re in front of an audience, you feel butterflies in your stomach, that nervousness,” he continued.
“You have to be able to control your breathing. This is the first time I’ve ever sung in front of an audience. It requires a whole different level of focus.”
Fortunately, Chet’s nerves didn’t get the better of him and soon there was loud applause from the audience.
Figure skater Johnny Weir was also impressed by Chet’s voice, saying, “Who would have thought Chester was such a great singer?”
Ally Brooke, lead singer of Fifth Harmony, who performed with Chet on stage, added, “I didn’t expect Chet to have a voice like that.”
And it wasn’t just the other Surreal Life celebrities who were amazed by Chet’s voice, viewers were also impressed by his talent.
When he went to X, someone said, ‘Holy s***, Chet Hanks can actually sing? I think out of all the castmates, he’s the one that’s most deviated from his celebrity persona and I’m all for it.’
Another wrote a similar sentiment: ‘Chet Hanks should just do country. He has the voice for it.’

“I already had a crush on Chet Hanks and now he sings like a 90s rock singer?” said a fourth, while a fifth added: “Chet can sing.”
Chet is no stranger to the music industry, having recorded his first rap song, White and Purple, in 2011 while still a student at Northwestern University.
Ten years later, in 2021, he announced that he had signed with Soulja Boy’s record label SODMG Records.

“We’re gonna make history, you know what I mean!?” exclaimed Soulja Boy, who shared a video of himself and Chet on Instagram announcing the news.
That same year, Chet released a new song titled White Boy Summer under the alias Chet Hanx.
The song was a follow-up to Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot Girl Summer campaign.
Chet then made it clear that the name of his “movement” is not racist in nature and that he is not talking about “Trump and Nascar-like white people.”
The phrase raised eyebrows, despite his claim that it was about “good vibes.”
